Soaring Eagles Running Club quick overview:
- Open to students in grades 2-5
- Meets before school on Thursdays, 7:50 – 8:20 am
- Each enrolled student requires an adult to volunteer for one (1) club date
- No club fee
Running Club is a before-school club designed to encourage students to gain an appreciation for walking, jogging and running. It is designed to engage students in a healthier, more active lifestyle, as well as promote character principles and school pride. Students will also be encouraged to set personal goals and engage in a fun active morning routine which can help to set the mood for a productive day at school. We will also participate in an optional local Fun Run at the end of each session as a “Soaring Eagles” TEAM. Students are required to arrive in proper running attire and sneakers and bring a water bottle. Team Soaring Eagles T-shirts will be available for purchase.
Dates for Running Club in Spring 2019 are Thursday mornings, 7:50 – 8:20 am, from 2/7/19 through 5/8/19.
The class size is limited to 30 students and placement in the club will be determined via lottery. Students who did not participate in a before- or after-school club during the Fall Semester will be given priority.
Running Club is led by volunteers but we need your help to run it efficiently. The club must have 3 additional parent volunteers per week for it to run effectively and safely for all students. Parents are required to sign up for 1 volunteer date prior to the PTA clubs kick-off week on February 4th. Failure to sign up for volunteer dates prior to volunteer dates will result in your child’s removal from the club. Please note, you will not be required to run when volunteering for this club and you must be a registered volunteer with Pinellas County Schools. If your child is selected for the club, you will be emailed instructions on how to register as a volunteer or re-activate if you are already a volunteer.
